Metrology & Calibration Engineer
Base salary range. Actual offer depends on experience and location. Equity and bonus are additional.
Every measurement FORGE sells is only worth what the chain behind it can prove. You own that chain: instrument qualification, NIST-traceable calibration, uncertainty budgets, and the discipline that makes a Constanellis data package something a customer can take to their own review board without caveats. The company's thesis is that measurement data compounds into an asset; you are the person who makes each measurement worth keeping.
Responsibilities
- Own the calibration program: schedules, procedures, and records for every instrument in the measurement chain
- Build NIST-traceable calibration paths, using accredited third-party labs until in-house capability stands up
- Develop measurement uncertainty budgets for optical and environmental test campaigns
- Qualify new instruments and test setups before they produce customer data
- Define the measurement-data standards behind every FORGE acceptance package
Requirements
- 5+ years metrology, calibration, or test-measurement engineering in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing
- Working knowledge of measurement uncertainty analysis (GUM or equivalent)
- Experience with calibration program management and traceability documentation
- Eligible for an active U.S. government clearance
What the first year looks like
- Every instrument in the building on a calibration schedule with traceable records, from day one of test operations
- Uncertainty budgets published for the retroreflector and LRA verification chain
- A measurement-data standard that makes every acceptance package audit-ready without rework
Nice to have, not required
- ISO/IEC 17025 lab experience, either side of an accreditation audit
- Optical metrology background: interferometry, autocollimation, wavefront measurement
- Experience standing up a calibration program rather than inheriting one
