Lead GNC Engineer
Base salary range. Actual offer depends on experience and location. Equity and bonus are additional.
Maneuver, rendezvous, and autonomous landing are GNC problems before they are anything else. You own the algorithms from concept through flight acceptance: guidance, navigation filters, control, and the simulation infrastructure that proves them. Your work is the difference between a landing and a crater.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement autonomous guidance, navigation, and control algorithms
- Develop and maintain 6-DOF simulation environments
- Lead GNC trade studies, Monte Carlo analysis, and error budgets
- Interface with avionics, power, and propulsion on GNC-driving requirements
- Support hardware-in-the-loop testing and flight software validation
Requirements
- 8+ years GNC for spacecraft or launch vehicles
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++
- Eligible for an active U.S. government clearance
What the first year looks like
- A 6-DOF simulation environment the whole GNC effort builds on, with regression baselines in CI
- Rendezvous and proximity-operations algorithms to preliminary-design maturity with Monte Carlo evidence
- GNC requirements flowed to avionics, propulsion, and software with no orphan interfaces
Nice to have, not required
- Rendezvous and proximity operations flight experience
- Optical navigation or terrain-relative navigation background
- Mentorship or technical team-lead experience
